12500 plastic bottles out of recycle waste were put into utilization for building out a 60-foot huge catamaran that was maneuvered into the dock at Sidney Harbor on Monday. The sail boat traveled across the Pacific Ocean for 4 continuous months to raise awareness amongst people about the hazards related to the disposal of plastic wastes in the environment.

Plastiki that is the name given out to this ship after the great explorer Kon-Tiki started out its journey by sea on the 20th of March this year and started traveling from San Francisco and also visited islands like Samoa and Kiribati among the south pacific islands. David de Rothschild the leader of the expedition yelled out from the boat “This is the hardest part of the journey so far — getting it in!”

There was a great crowd at the harbor with many cheering out loud on the successful docking. David de Rothschild was indeed very happy for making it through and therefore exchanged winning gestures with his crew members. The ship is absolutely recyclable and works on the energy produced by windmills and solar panels. The United States Ambassador at Australia, Jeffrey Bleich was also present at the dock and expressed, “The journey of the Plastiki is a journey from trash to triumph.”
