Vancouver’s is all set to enjoy the ‘Celebration of Light’ on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the English Bay sparkler burlesque.

Teams hailed from the U.S., Spain, Mexico are prepared to compete at firework ceremony this year. A tribute to China will be offered on the final night.

Skyline will look beautiful in Vancouver on July 21, 24, 28 and 31, to complement the scenario live performances are also organized to keep up the life of the show.

The SHOREfest is back again with performances by Spirit of the West, Jets Overhead, Jim Cuddy and Dan Mangan.

Two locations are decided for the concert. One is English Bay’s Bathhouse Roof and second is going to be the stage at Sunset Beach.

At this festive mood Vancouver plans to be amazed, residents advising visitors to be civil and “leave their trash and their trash talk at home.”

For the first time, West Enders along with MLA Spencer Chandra-Herbert, have openly mouthed their words against “trash talk” that can pour liberally, noisily and overtly when the huge throng descend in the vicinity.

“People [in previous years] may have been called names. They may have been laughed at or shouted at,” says Chandra-Herbert. “Certainly, when people have been drinking it’s been worse, and certainly when there’s a wider crowd.”

The NDP MLA has recently once referred Vancouver as “the hate crime capital of Canada.”

Brent Granby agrees with Chandra-Herbert, “We’re really asking people to be respectful of the diversity of our community,” he says. “People live down here because of the diversity, they feel safe within diversity and that’s a really important value for us.”

John Merzetti’s group, the West End Cleanup, knows that may be trash bins on main streets are being used but at side streets they are not in use.

“On side streets, you find there aren’t a whole lot of [garbage bins] and people just dump their stuff there,” Merzetti says.

Police will be on a roll during the event in order to maintain a strict behavior among crowd.

“We are not going to have any tolerance for hooligans” says Const. Lindsey Houghton.
