Barack Obama along with first lady Michelle and daughters Malia & Sasha are in Maine for the weekend. The first family reached at the Bar Harbor airport on Friday where they were welcomed by the Maine Governor John Baldacci & his wife, Karen. Obama’s dog Bo and his staff had reached Maine before his arrival there.

This was a well deserved break for Mr. Obama who had cancelled a number of his vacations including trips to Hawaii and Indonesia (where he spent most of his youth) due to his work commitments. The President spent most of the time at the ACADIA National Park enjoying the scenic beauty.

The flora and fauna on the coast of Maine are truly mesmerizing.Infact; Bar Harbor has always been a favorite holiday destination for the rich and famous. Many of Hollywood stars are slaves to the beautiful landscape of Maine which includes the Cadillac, the tallest peak on the Island.

The President of the United States seems to be adventurous as he visited the Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Canyon National Park last summer with his family where they enjoyed river rafting and peach-picking.

Obama has been known for his professionalism and he has proven that he places his work over his personal life. As quoted by Mark Knoller, a CBS News reporter long recognized by the White House, “Obama has spent all or part of 65 days on vacation, including days at Camp David. At this point in his tenure, George W. Bush had spent 120 days”.

Some critics have objected to President Obama’s vacationing saying that it is totally futile and unnecessary. But deputy press secretary Bill Burton negated the critics saying that everyone has a right to take some time off from work for amusement and it does not hinder any work as President Obama knows his priorities well.
