
Small plane crash
COAHUILA, MEXICO – A small plane with six passengers, including a state official and a Mayor, crashed in northern Mexico’s state of Coahuila while assessing the rain impact in the area killing all aboard, the Vanguardia newspaper reported on Wednesday.
The Coahuila’s Secretary of Public works, Horacio del Bosque, and José Manuel Maldonado, the Mayor of Piedras Negras were killed in the crash near the La Fragua dam.
The ten-seat airplane exploded in mid-air, 600 meters above the water surface at around 10.20 a.m. local time. Weather conditions were good.
Also killed in the tragic event were the Piedras Negras Civil Protection Director, Ricardo Garza Bermea; the pilot, Juan Roberto Rendón; the co-pilot, Guillermo Ainslie Ibarra; and the state photographer, David Chavira.
Rescue crews are at the scene looking for the remains of the small plane.
