It’s almost a year since Steve McNair, the Tennessee Titans quarterback had passed away. On that fateful day of 4th July, McNair was shot dead by girlfriend Sahel Kazemi who later killed herself with the same weapon.
A native of Mount Olive in Mississippi, McNair excelled in football, baseball and basketball during his schooling before gaining a place in the State Championship.
He was selected by the Seattle Mariners in 1991, though his career at the NFL began with Houston Oilers in 1995. But it was with the Tennessee team that ‘Air McNair’ touched his career heights including 492 attempts and 289 completions.
McNair death anniversary festivities have been arranged by his ardent fans who still continue to mourn the star’s tragic end. Meanwhile, Vince Young, the quarterback who replaced the late player in the team, has planned to visit Mcnair’s mother in his hometown.
He intends to spend some time there in fond memory of his idol on his anniversary. “It’s the one-year anniversary for Steve not being here. It’s gonna be a sad moment, but we’re gonna eat some barbecue and celebrate the life of Steve McNair, the things he put in my life and his family’s life” observed Young.
