Katie Finneran
Once again the well known theater artist Katie Finneran who insulated her from the world of Broadway won the prestigious Tony Award for her outstanding performance in “Promise Promiseâ€.
It is the second time that Katie Finneran won this award. This time to accompany her she had Scarlett Johansson with her. Both Tony winners were cheering when they hold the gold figure they received on winning the best actress award. Katie won Tony for musical “Promises, Promises†and Johansson for “A View From a Bridge.”
The Tony Award will prove to be a milestone for both actresses in its own way. For Johansson, it’s a remark to express her as a serious and talented actress and for Katie it provides the prospect of extensive appreciation awaited from American audiences.
Katie is a veteran theatre actress while Scarlett Johansson got her recognition only when seen in blockbuster “Iron Man 2″ and speckled the paparazzi desire to click her.
Scarlet debuted with Broadway became emotional when he received the Tony Award and thanked her agents and the New York theater community for the honor.
“Thank you to the Broadway community [for] opening their arms and welcoming me. By welcoming me into this community, it has been an absolute dream. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be on Broadway, and here I am. It’s unbelievable.”
Finneran, however, is the sort of artist very well renowned in the theater society, but not outside it. Her comic timing in “Promises, Promises” made her stand high from co-stars Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes.
Finneran told the media that she has grown up dreaming for Tony awards. “I liked Julie Andrews and anything theatrical. I knew that I belonged in that world, and I had that yearning, that artistic wanting.”
