Google Tablet Rumoured To Surface on Black Friday from HTC or Motorola

The rumour mills are abuzz with the news that a Google Tablet manufactured by HTC and able to run Google Chrome OS, would be released into the market on Black Friday ie., November26th this coming year.

It would be available via Verizon network and is this rumour is said to have its origins in Download Squad Blog.

What adds a special twist to this rumour is another rumour started by Digitimes that Motorola would be chosen for making Google’s Tablet rather than HTC as is claimed and its construction would be entirely based on Android. The other features of the Motorola produced tablet would be •    Nvidia’s Tegra 2 Processor Platform•    10.1 inch LCD•    Less bright than an iPad but comparatively thinner
Reportedly it would be undergoing production at the culmination of the year 2010.

Download Squad expresses its rather positive views about the Chrome tablet and declares that-“the device could be based on NVidia’s Tegra 2 platform and sport a 1280×720 multitouch display, 2GB of RAM, minimum 32GB SSD, WiFi/Bluetooth/LTE connectivity, GPS, webcam, and possibly expandable storage via a multi-card reader,” which is obviously the author’s take on the new market phenomena but would it be really able to capture the imagination of the 21st generation youth? In that case, your guess is as good as mine. There’s no option but to wait and watch for now.

HTC and Motorola are quite even footed so it’s hard to decide which is going to win. This hardware constructor is the force which has created numerous android phones so it would not be alien to that concept. Also, to its credit, it had joined Google and collaborated with them to produce the very original Googlephone, G1.
Motorola isn’t far behind either since it has been slogging pretty hard on Androids since the last year and the Verizon pairing seems to give it an edge.

Verizon and Google had teamed up to reject the requirement of Untiered Internet for Mobile devices. Also, Verizon CEO, Lowell McAdam had clearly stated that Google and Verizon were joining their forces to work on the tablets.

The launch date selection is quite weird as it could either work for or against them. They could either capitalise on the Holiday rush or go down silently without any impact.

Well, the good news for now is that the Chrome App stores would be opened in October. This store would be a veritable meeting ground of all the sellers of web-based Applications. The customers would be allowed to purchase the just released version of course from the Chrome store.

The facts are confusing but all we can do is to wait patiently for that marvel in November.
