New Delhi: Barack Obama is set to create another landmark in Indo-US history by becoming only the 2nd US President to address a joint session on the Indian Parliament. Following the likes of former President Bill Clinton & the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Obama is going to address the winter session of the Parliament as a part of a special gesture by the Indian government.

While the US embassy is reluctant to share details of the visit, it’s assured that Obama will be making his 1st trip to India sometime in November this year. The exact dates have not been decided yet but it’s likely that he may be addressing the Parliament on Nov9. The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is quite eager for the US President whom he considers as a role model for the world, to grace the winter session with his presence in the Parliament.

While George Bush, the former President had missed this opportunity, owing to unrest among the Left parties over the Indo-US nuclear deal, Obama’s maiden visit is eagerly anticipated by all. In fact the Indian government has decided to attune the winter session that usually commences in the 2nd half of November, to this landmark visit of the US President.

The US leader had last November honored the visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by hosting a state dinner at his presidency. The Indian PM is thus eager to return the honor when Obama visits India this winter.
