PALMIDALE : A wildfire took place in Los Angeles County on Thursday around 3 pm. Three water-dropping helicopters and hundreds of firefighters tried to put it off. The fire ate up seven square miles of dry bush, many people had to evacuate their places and burnt down three buildings.
The authorities told that the fire could not be helped from spreading in spite of consistent efforts from their side.
The fire caught up on the northern side of State Route 14. The flames spread across the foothills connecting Los Angeles to the desert.
“Man, it looks bad outside. If I step outside the restaurant, it’s just insane looking — black and orange smoke and helicopters going through, dropping water,” said Jamie Karschamroon, the co-owner of Crazy Otto’s diner in Leona Valley.
Evacuation order was given to 1,200 houses in the Leona Valley, said Matt Levesque, Los Angeles County Fire Inspector.
“It’s fuel and topography driven, but when fires have this much fuel and burn this hot they make their own wind,” Levesque said.
